TONUTTI'S INNOVATIVE CONCEPT FOR FINGERWHEELS RAKES OF THE NEXT DECADE

In 1989 Tonutti co. intoduced in the North American market the first "V" pull type rake with hydraulic opening and adjustable windrow width.

It was a revolution in the finger wheel rake business because of the innovative model and system and because for the first time we could reach a working width of 38'8" and all the rake settings were hydraulic. While before the only "V" rakes available were the three point hitch version in the maximum 12 wheel configuration and with a maximum working width of 28'2". Another revolutionary concept was the position of the finger wheels in the front of the frame to allow for raking of almost all kinds and quantities of hay. The windrow width of the rake was adjustable by sliding in or out the two rear frame members after having loosened the bolts and nuts and then once the required windrow width was reached, tighting the same bolts and nuts again.

At that time the farmers normally set windrow size of their rake according to the dimension of the pick up of their baler. Lately the farmers want to have a quicker and easier method to modify the windrow widths and this from when they began to see that they could use different size balers or the hay differed from field to field (first cut, heavy crops ect.) For this reason the Tonutti Co. introduced in 1993, a mechanical windrow width adjustment mechanism.

But both solutions were anyhow very difficult to set up particularly in the field. The farmers want to have the possibility of adjusting the windrow width at any time they need to, easily and rapidly.

All "V" traditional rakes actually have a complex and fatiguing mechanical or hydraulic adjustment system on the rear frames of the rakes to modify the raking windrow width. Loosening and tightening bolts and nuts and sliding members is a nightmare This is more difficult when carried out in the field.
But today with the Tonutti's innovative concept, all that is neccessary is just a simple registration of the two last rake finger wheels and you will determine your new required windrow width with ease and without fatigue. This innovative concept not only allows for the simple adjusting of the windrow width but is also a great time saver and more important is that this concept allows for the rear frames to be fixed and therefore more sturdy and resistent. You also have the possibility of offsetting the windrow as you wish because you can fix a different raking angle acting on the two independent last rake finger wheels. This Tonutti innovative concept of adjusting the windrow width by means of the two last rake finger wheels has been patented world wide. All the new Tonutti series rakes, the Dominator and Millenium rakes, have this innovative concept applied to them.
