PRESS RELEASE No8 - 2009 3 September 2009 Carlo Tonutti invited to the United Nations Two hundred personalities, amongst which eighty heads of state and government, will discuss the actions that will need to be taken in order to preserve global climate, in preparation to the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Copenhagen this coming December. Over one billion
people today suffer from malnutrition. The World population will grow from 6.5
billion in 2005 to almost 9.2 billion in 2050, with this growth concentrated
in urban areas of developing countries. To feed this population, global food
production must almost double, whilst facing at the same time the challenges
from climate change.“For years I have dedicated great attention to the research and development of farm machinery with low environmental impact, environmentally friendly and aimed at reducing C02 emissions” says Carlo Tonutti. “It’s necessary to think of sustainable actions (social, environmental and economic) that can lead to a real and measureable improvement of the situation. Going beyond mere declarations of goodwill, it’s necessary that governments across the globe take decisive action for change and it’s vital that they do so now. The concept of sustainable agriculture becomes a cornerstone of any future strategy towards solving food safety and climate change issues and must be addressed and pursued globally”. “Being asked to be an active part of the SEAL THE DEAL campaign http://www.sealthedeal2009.org and being invited to be a speaker at the September Forum is a great honour and a privilege that I also feel as great responsibility towards future generations”.
